Echoes Lake Dukan incident

Mass gull deaths at Mosul Dam under investigation

MOSUL – Authorities in Mosul are investigating a series of mass gull deaths at the Mosul Dam, a disturbing echo of recent events at Lake Dukan.

Officials have yet to pinpoint the cause of the mortality, which has alarmed local communities and environmentalists alike. The Duhok Veterinary Department is spearheading the investigation, collecting samples for analysis to ascertain the underlying reasons behind the phenomenon.

Recently captured footage by 964media shows several dead gulls scattered around the area, with others visibly distressed and struggling in the water.

A representative from 964media has delivered samples from the dead and afflicted birds to the Duhok Veterinary Department, aiding in their diagnostic efforts.

Dr. Nishtiman Arif, Director of the Duhok Veterinary Department, informed 964media that a special committee has been established to probe the deaths thoroughly. “Until we have conclusive results, we cannot speculate on the cause of the gull deaths,” Dr. Arif stated, emphasizing the importance of basing any public statements on solid evidence.

This situation at Mosul Dam is reminiscent of similar fatalities at Lake Dukan, where bird flu was confirmed as the cause.
