Body of missing 62-year-old woman found in Tigris River

SALAH AL-DIN — The body of a 62-year-old woman, who had been missing for seven days, was found Tuesday in the Tigris River in Salah Al-Din’s Beiji district.

Safwan Ghufran, a member of the Beiji district river police team, informed 964media that after an extensive search, their team located the woman’s body last night in the Tigris River, about 35 kilometers away from Beiji.

“After several days of searching, including efforts from both our river police teams and the woman’s family, we finally found her body,” Ghufran stated.

The woman, who suffered from memory loss, had left her home in Zab sub-district, part of Kirkuk’s Hawija district, and drowned in the river.

In the past 20 days, five people, including two women, have drowned in the waters within Kirkuk city’s boundaries.
